After spending yesterday introducing myself it’s time to talk about what I’ve actually written.

The Legendary isn’t your typical superhero story. There are no billionaire geniuses in powered armor. No farm boys discovering they’re secretly alien royalty. No teenagers learning responsibility after radioactive spider bites. This is a story about a man whose entire identity was built around revenge only to discover that time stole that purpose from him years before he could act on it. Now he’s discovered a found family he doesn’t trust himself to keep and a world that needs protecting by someone who’s still figuring out if he deserves to exist at all.
Frank isn’t alone. Wynd carries guilt over millenia of mistakes that cost innocent lives. Take is a refugee from a hell dimension trying to prove he’s more than his demonic nature. Wish Girl survived having her life’s work taken from her and came out the other side with power and zero patience for bullshit. Together they form a family built not from blood relations but from shared trauma and the choice to protect others anyway.
What makes this different?
First, these characters are based on real people. Frank King is me. Wynd, Take, and Scarlet are friends from my gaming community who gave me permission to tell their stories. This isn’t fiction about imaginary heroes. It’s mythology built from actual friendships that span two decades.
Second, the trauma is real. I spent 12 years as an archaeologist and transitioned into work protecting vulnerable people from exploitation. I’ve seen what humans are capable of doing to each other. The pain in these pages isn’t academic research. It’s processed through personal experience and professional observation.
Third, I refuse to sanitize the difficult parts. These characters make morally complex choices. They fail. They hurt people they care about. They question whether they’re capable of being the heroes the world needs. There are no easy answers, and consequences actually matter.
Why This Story Matters
At its core, The Legendary is about one thing: showing the unworthy that they are worth loving. It’s about broken people choosing to protect others despite their damage. It’s about finding family in unexpected places. It’s about discovering that heroism is about showing up when it matters.
If you’ve ever felt like you were dealt a shit hand, this story is for you. Because the best heroes aren’t the ones who never fall. They’re the ones who get back up. I’ve spent 22 years building this universe. The story grew and evolved as I did, incorporating hard-won wisdom about trauma, survival, healing, and the complex reality of choosing to do good in a world that doesn’t tolerate goodness.
This isn’t going to be just one book. I’ve mapped out multiple seasons, spinoffs, and companion series.Volume 2 scripts are complete. A chronological follow-up spinoff is written. I’m not asking you to start a story that might never conclude—I’m asking you to join a journey I’m committed to finishing.
The Legendary Volume 1 publishes on Amazon March 1st. The exclusive signed hardcover Kickstarter launches March 8th.
