The Legendary: Volume 1 Kickstarter
I want to tell you about something I’ve been working on since you were in high school.
Twenty-two years ago, I started writing stories about broken people who refused to stay broken. It began in a video game community where I met friends who became family. We built characters together, ran missions at 2 AM, survived the game’s shutdown, and kept the stories alive long after the servers went dark.
Those characters became The Legendary. Frank King, an archaeologist turned reluctant hero in a city overrun by supervillains. Wynd a primordial storm goddess with millennia of regret. Kenyana “Wish Girl” Thompson, a supergenius robbed of her future. Take, the half demon smartass. They’re not perfect but neither is the world. It’s beautiful. It’s horrible. It’s hope.
I’ve been building this universe through marriage, divorce, archaeology fieldwork, career changes, fatherhood, depression, and financial chaos. I’ve written it in notebooks at dig sites, on forum posts at midnight, in Google Docs during lunch breaks. My wife Leah edited early drafts in purple ink twenty years ago.
Now it’s real. The eBook and paperback are live on Amazon. The prose is polished. The characters are ready. Tonight, I’m asking you to join me for the final push: a limited-edition signed hardcover with exclusive content, Legion logo merchandise, and everything I couldn’t afford to produce until now.
This Kickstarter isn’t about funding a dream. The dream already exists—you can buy it right now. This is about making it successful enough to be permanent. Hardcovers with ISBNs that libraries can stock. Physical proof that indie creators can build franchises without corporate gatekeepers. A signal to literary agents and streaming platforms that there’s an audience for trauma survivors who become legends.
If you’re unsure, I’d recommend you try a copy of the eBook for $2.99 on Amazon. And when you love it—and you will love it—come back to Kickstarter for a limited edition hardcover.
