The Soundtrack, Part 13

A giant black alien cricket with spindly clawed legs, translucent wings and a mouth full of fangs, standing on a dark floor.

You might notice something about Part 13 when you read it: there’s no song at the beginning. That’s on porpoise. After the way Part 12 ends, I wanted things to feel off. Part 9 opens without a song too, and for the same reason. Things are askew from the start, and the silence is the cue.

Backbone – Gojira

Backbone plays over the close of Part 13, and it’s the moment in the volume where everything kicks into high gear. The epic action is about to start.

The song opens with a ticking beat that sounds like a clock running down, and that’s exactly what’s happening. The heroes have very little time to get to the front. Backbone is there to get you amped for the battle that’s coming.
